So.... I'm into arts and crafts, DIY... anything I can do by myself I don't like to spend money on. From changing a light bulb to fixing a plug or socket to hammering something together, fixing a door handle, painting, braiding my hair all the way to the clothes I wear. I prefer to do things on my own from the phrase/saying: "If you want something done right do it yourself"
That's my motto. I prefer to be self sufficient and encourage others to do the same because there is nothing I hate more than having to be stranded and depend on someone else to come through only to disappoint me.
But don't get me wrong, where I'm unable to, I'm quick to ask for help.
So school was forcibly/prematurely closed so i've been bored outta my mind.
But then I thought "hmm i like clothes. Why don't I get a little creative to pass the time" and got to it.
Yesterday I came up with this little number
Made the crop top out of a pair of tights thanks to Ndanjy's post from a while ago. Link at the bottom of post.
And for the jeans I simply made four slits with a razor blade and then with a scissors i cut off about 2mm of fabric on each side of the slit to make the cuts more visible and that was it.
To classy up the look, instead of ripped jeans you could use opaque tights, throw on a high waisted skirt and heels and bam! Office ready.
Then the other week I took to covering shoes with fabric. I hunted thrift stands and found a pair i liked, bought the fabric, i used chitenge/ankara/african print. But any fabric would do. And white glue and got to it.
Was feeling extra creative lol so went on to do a pair of earrings, a phone case and a choker
Took the extra fabric and made a headwrap and top out of it to make this outfit:
And then this is just something i did a year and a half ago but thought I'd share it too. For this i had done a purse, shoes, bangle/bracelet and stud earrings.
Have fun with your style ladies... gents too. Be creative and find yourself with amazing looks for less.... $$ SAVINGS!! $$
