 Aaaahhhh look at that!! *googly eyes* .... Soooo I have a not so secret obsession with afros. Yes, I love all things natural hair and well, why wouldn't I? It's beautiful. From the earliest of times African women have worn it in various creative ways, woven, twisted and braided in styles that always seemed to make a statement very hard to miss  The Afro... timeless! love it, love it, loooove ittt!!!  The headwrap is something black women have wound around their hair since centuries ago. I like how it sits on our heads like a crown. It's a style that can be made to suit any occasion  But what I admire the most is how our mothers care(d) and groom(ed) for our hair. I feel like it is upto the parents to teach their daughters how to love their hair and care for it and make them know it's a very special and beautiful feature Wouldn't it have been something if we had had black barbies right from the beg...

By now it is common knowledge that black people haven't had it easy, but what burdens me is how even though the shackles have been broken off and black slavery is no more... We are not yet free. As previously stated in my 'Free Yourself!' blogpost We as black women are still weighed down by the mental ball and chain which is the tiny voice within that's constantly telling us we are not good enough... Our skin and hair is what makes us stand out. And yet our oppressors made it a point to use our unique traits that we ought to take pride in, to be a cause for the lack of self love. "I'm too dark" "I don't like my hair"... Who says there is a measure of how dark or light one needs to be in order to be accepted? And if you feel there is... WHY do we have one?? Ever disliked someone upon first meeting and ended up liking them eventually? Yea well there's a name for that, Repulsion Theory. Lol white people have a theory and explanation for everything! Anyway, we females are a special breed, there's some of us who really like the men who don't pay attention to us. You know the guys that just don't seem to care about us. Yet we fall crazy in love and can not seem to let them go despite the bad treatment. Probably why the common misconception about girls liking bad guys. It's semi true. There is something about a display of a little rebellion. But I personally like to feel wanted and loved. Like the guy is really happy to have me you know. Show me you care. But at the same time, nobody wants an overly clingy guy. The ones that are 'too nice' because honestly them guys are just annoying. Too much of anything, even a good thing isn't good at all. My opinion. On choice of men... Women really do have a super power...
